Information Technology

IT implementation is not Confined to a particular sector

Technology has been the main enabler for various industrial sectors to advance and embrace the fourth industrial revolution. There have been a number of ground breaking advancements in the past few decades. Among the top technologies that have taken over the world are IoT, Big Data Analytics, Fibre Optics, drones, image recognition, artificial intelligence etc. These technologies have shaped the future readiness of most of the industries – not limited to any particular sector. Whether it is manufacturing, electrical, agriculture or mechanical – information technology has always been a critical driver for change and advancement.

IT implementation is not Confined to a particular sector

Let’s see how modern technology helps various industrial sectors:
  • Big Data

Big Data is being used more widely in many industries to derive better insights into their existing systems. For instance, Banks and other organisations use Big Data to understand consumer behaviour. This helps them serve their customers better. With Big Data analysis, massive amounts of data can be searched or sifted in mere seconds. Patterns are now found in the most bizarre things which may not be obvious otherwise. These patterns that are derived from the available data is used to make predictions. Most of this data is used by either support or marketing teams to rightly target their efforts.

  • Drones

Drones have been used in many applications since long in various industries. One standing example for the use of drones is the use of drones by the online shopping giant Amazon. They use drones in the delivery system for some of the remote areas. Another industry that is uses drones is healthcare – especially hospitals use drones to deliver medical supplies to various floors. Farmers too use drones to monitor their farms and detect pests, diseased crops etc. faster.

In the oil and gas sector, drones are used to monitor environmental impact of various installations. In mining companies, drones are used to survey mining operations and make better measurements. Further, in the construction industry, drones are used to gauge topography, monitor construction progress and carry out ground surveys.

  • Image recognition

Image recognition helps various industry sectors to advance in numerous ways. Industries now use image recognition for facial recognition, surveillance, video analysis, driverless vehicles, augmented reality etc. Fashion industry uses image recognition to capture the images of people and give them more information about the clothes.

Virtual Reality and Augmented reality have now become much more than entertainment. They have found applications in a lot of industries such as real estate and retail fashion where people can try on clothes virtually before purchasing them. Technology is helping industries progress at a faster rate. There is no industry where information technology hasn’t made an impact – it’s the key to future readiness!
